Turin first city to register to organize Eurovision Song Contest

Turin is the first city in Italy that has decided to apply to host the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. The city council voted unanimously on Monday for a proposal to make a bid for the organization.

Turin is going to hand in a so-called bid book, in which interested cities try to convince the organization that they can accommodate the event. Attention is paid to a suitable location, capacity and technical facilities, accommodation, infrastructure and accessibility.

Earlier, local politicians in Milan, Bologna, Rome and Pesaro, among others, already hinted that they want to bring the song contest to their city. The Italian broadcaster Rai has to make a choice in the coming period.

Thanks to the profit of the band Maneskin in Rotterdam, Italy can organize the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time. In 1992, after the victory of Toto Cutugno, the event took place in Rome. In 1965, Naples had the honor when Gigliola Cinquetti took home the win a year earlier.
