Eurovision 2023 – Switzerland – Remo Forrer – Watergun

The Swiss had successful years with a fourth place in 2019 and a third place in 2021. They also made it to the final in Turin, but Marius Bear only reached 17th place and didn’t get any points from the televoters in the final.

That has to be different this year with a 100% televoting result in the semi-finals. Switzerland’s representative this year is their 2020 Voice winner, Remo Forrer, who was internally selected with the song “Watergun.” The song was written two years ago without Forrer. The singer had submitted a different song, but was asked by the Swiss broadcaster if he was interested in listening to some other songs, and the match between Forrer and “Watergun” was made. The choice of the jury (100 persons with Swiss nationality and a 23-member international jury) then fell on Remo Forrer and “Watergun.”

The now 20-year-old Forrer began his musical career playing various instruments, but his breakthrough came in 2019 when he auditioned for The Voice of Switzerland. He was chosen as the winner in April 2020, but due to the corona crisis, he could hardly perform publicly and had to mainly focus on studio work, which resulted in a few singles.

Among the composers are some veterans. Hicklin is on his seventh entry, some of which he co-wrote with Mikołaj Trybulec, including last year’s Polish entry.
