Eurovision 2023 – Portugal – Mimicat – Ai coração

The 39-year-old Marisa Isabel Lopes Mena, also known as Mimicat, will represent Portugal in Liverpool.

She tied for first place in the jury voting with Edmundo Inácio at the Festival da Canção. However, Mimicat received the most votes in the televoting for her song ‘Ai coração’. In 2001, she previously participated in Festival da Canção under the stage name Izamena but was eliminated in the semi-finals.

Mimicat’s debut album, ‘For You’, was released in 2014. This year, she will release a new album, which will feature her Eurovision entry ‘Ai coração’, a song she co-wrote and co-produced with Luís Pereira. ‘Ai coração’ is Portugal’s 54th entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Portugal made its debut in 1964 and has won once in 2017 with ‘Amar pelos sois’ by Salvador Sobral. Portugal has never finished in the top 5, but perhaps Mimicat can change that.
