Eurovision 2023: Czechia – Vesna – My sister’s crown

Czech Republic has never made it further than sixth place in the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, the country hopes for success in Liverpool with the song “My Sister’s Crown” by Vesna, an all-female band led by singer and songwriter Patricia Kaňok.

In 2017, the group released their first single: “Morana,” named after the goddess of winter. The song was recorded in collaboration with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Together, they recorded three other singles: “Mokoš,” “Vesna,” and “Živa,” respectively named after the goddesses of autumn, spring, and summer. They launched their debut album, “Pátá bohyně” (The Fifth Goddess), during a fairytale-like concert with the Prague Symphony Orchestra.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vesna used the lockdown time to record a new album called “Anima,” solidifying their position in the pop scene while maintaining their signature folk-soul and dreaminess. The band recently scored a radio hit with the song “Na Dračích Perutích.”
