Dutch people who text in vain at the Eurovision Song Contest will get a refund

People who have tried to vote by text message at the Eurovision Song Contest will receive a refund, T-Mobile reported on Thursday.

Hundreds of people received a message after the final of the Eurovision Song Contest that their vote had not been counted because it had arrived too late, even though they had voted on time. According to the EBU, the problem lay with the Dutch branch of T-Mobile.

T-Mobile still doesn’t know what the cause is. An investigation is still underway, a spokesperson said. Because the company does not want to wait any longer, it has been decided to refund the money from all votes cast too late. The telecom company does not want to say exactly how many people will get their money back.

The EBU previously said it regretted the Dutch voting problems, but also said that the results were valid. All votes that did come in were checked. Moreover, a possible change in the Dutch public points would not have resulted in another winner, according to the EBU.
