Zdob şi Zdub for the third time to the Eurovision song contest for Moldova
After 2005 and 2011, the group Zdob şi Zdub will enter the Eurovision Song Contest for Moldova in 2022. In Turin they appear with the song Trenuleţul and are accompanied by Fraţii Advahov.
Originally, the intention was to organize a final on March 5, but due to the increasing corona infections, the Moldovan broadcaster decided to use the auditions today as a selection moment. Twenty-eight candidates were discussed this afternoon, after which a five-member jury including former participants Geta Burlacu, Cristina Scarlat and Aliona Moon made the choice.
Zdob şi Zdub was the first Moldovan representative in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. The band took sixth place in Kiev with Boonika Bate Toba. Six years later, in Düsseldorf, the twelfth place was achieved with So Lucky.
In 2017, Moldova scored its best ranking to date with a third-place finish for SunStroke Project. A year later, DoReDoS also reached the top 10. Anna Odobescu did not reach the final in Tel Aviv. Natalia Gordienko succeeded in that in Rotterdam.
