Iceland will choose on March 4
Iceland will choose the entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 via the national selection Söngvakeppnin on March 4. As usual, ten songs will be selected. Open registration runs until October 4. The ten will be divided into two semifinals on February 18 and 25. Two from each semi-final will be sent to the final. In all likelihood, one of the dropped candidates will receive a wildcard for the final.
After a number of bad years without final places, the Icelanders were back in the final from 2019 with two top 10 rankings in 2019 and 2021. In Turin, however, the sisters Systur with Með hækkandi sól did not go further than 23rd place.
