Red Sebastian will represent Belgium at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel (Switzerland).
With the song “Strobe Lights”, he managed to convince both the home viewers and the jury the most during the preselection Eurosong 2025, broadcast live from EMG Studios in Vilvoorde. Red Sebastian received 132 points from the professional jury and 291 from the voting public, totaling 423 points.
Red Sebastian is the stage name of Seppe Herreman (25 years old) from Ghent. With his song “Strobe Lights”, he will represent Belgium on the grand Eurovision stage in May. The song is a tribute to the pounding beats of 90s rave culture. “Strobe Lights” tells the story of an exciting and thrilling club night—you know where it begins, but not where it ends.
The song is a vocal masterpiece, intentionally showcasing Red Sebastian’s full vocal range, from the lowest to the highest registers. With his astonishing voice, the singer hopes to make a difference in Basel. Red Sebastian wrote the song himself, together with Billie Bentein, Ameerah A. Roelants, and Willem Vanderstichele.
Red Sebastian: “I’m shaking all over. I want to thank my parents, my manager, and everyone behind the scenes. But most of all, my grandmother—she passed away just as I found out I could participate in Eurosong. But I know she is with me.”
Who is Red Sebastian?
Seppe Herreman (Ghent, 25 years old) was already a finalist in Belgium’s Got Talent (2014) at the age of 14. His passion for music never faded, and he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Ghent, where he received vocal training from Eurovision winner Gustaph. At the conservatory, he developed his alter ego, Red Sebastian.
In 2024, Seppe became a finalist in the VTM show Sing Again, where he stood out for both his exceptional vocal range and striking outfits. Singer Koen Wauters even called him “the discovery of the year.”
What is his connection to the Eurovision Song Contest?
Red Sebastian has been a huge fan of Eurovision since childhood:
“As a kid, the Eurovision Song Contest always brought out strong emotions in me. The first time I saw the monsters of Lordi, I was so scared I hid behind the couch. I was also completely fascinated by Alexander Rybak—his enthusiasm and masterful violin playing left a big impression on me. At the age of twelve, Loreen blew me away, and that’s when I knew: I want to stand there too. From that moment on, I spent hours rehearsing in my bedroom, microphone in hand, and honestly, I never stopped.”
