Olly wins Sanremo festival; Eurovision participation still unclear

Singer Olly has won the 75th edition of the Sanremo festival with Balorda nostalgia.

The festival started last Tuesday. In the days that followed, the candidates performed several times and different juries voted daily. On the final evening, a top 5 was chosen first. Then there was another vote. Ollie narrowly beat Lucio Corsi. Third place went to Brunori Sas.

The winner of the Sanremo festival will also have the right to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest. Whether Olly will go, we will probably hear on Sunday afternoon at the press conference. All candidates had to indicate in advance whether they wanted to go to the song festival. If Olly does not want to, RAI is obliged to follow the rankings to ultimately select the candidate who had indicated that he wanted to go.

During the press conference, the singer did not yet say for sure whether he would also go to Basel. “It is a great honor, but I have not thought about it yet.” RAI is giving him a week to decide.
