Norway has chosen its representative for Eurovision 2025! Kyle Alessandro emerged victorious at Melodi Grand Prix 2025 with his song Lighter and will now carry Norway’s hopes to Basel this May.
A night of music and competition
Held at Oslo Spektrum, this year’s Melodi Grand Prix featured nine talented acts, each eager to claim the ticket to Eurovision. After all performances, the votes were cast, combining 60% from the Norwegian public and 40% from an international jury.
When the results were revealed, Kyle Alessandro took the top spot, securing the win with Lighter, a song he co-wrote with Adam Woods.

Other acts included Wig Wam, Tone Damli, and Nora Jabri, but it was Kyle Alessandro who won over the voters and secured his place at Eurovision 2025.
Meet Kyle Alessandro
At just 18 years old, Kyle Alessandro is no stranger to the Norwegian music scene. He first gained recognition at age 10 on Norske Talenter and later competed in MGP 2023 as part of the group Umami Tsunami with the song Geronimo.
Born and raised in Steinkjer, Kyle blends diverse musical influences, drawing from South American, Japanese, and traditional Norwegian sounds. He also incorporates folk instruments like the langeleik and fiddle into his music.
The meaning behind Lighter
The song Lighter holds deep personal significance for Kyle. Inspired by his mother’s recent battle with cancer, the track delivers a powerful message about finding strength and hope even in difficult times. The lyrics, “I’ll be my own lighter,” serve as a mantra for resilience and self-empowerment.
Road to Eurovision
