Montenegro will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest again next year. The country skipped the contest for two years but will return in 2025. The Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG announced on Thursday that registration for the national selection round has opened.
Montenegro first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. Since then, the country has competed in the semifinals twelve times, only reaching the final twice. Montenegro’s best result came in 2015 when Knez placed 13th with the song “Adio.”
During their last participation in Turin in 2022, singer Vladana failed to reach the final. In 2023 and 2024, Montenegro opted out of the contest due to high costs.
Before Montenegro became independent, the country participated as part of Yugoslavia and later Serbia and Montenegro.
It is still unknown how many countries will participate in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest and whether the Netherlands will be among them.
