Latvia has announced its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. During the national final, Supernova 2025, which took place on February 8, 2025, the folk band Tautumeitas was chosen to represent the country with the song “Bur man laimi.”
Supernova is the annual national competition organized by the Latvian public broadcaster LTV to select the Eurovision entry. This year, the selection began with twenty participants in the semi-final on February 1, from which ten acts advanced to the final. Among the finalists were well-known names such as Justs (Latvia’s 2016 entrant) and Citi Zēni (Latvia’s 2022 entrant).
Leading up to the final, The Ludvig was considered the favorite, but ultimately, Tautumeitas secured the victory with their unique folk sound. Their winning song, “Bur man laimi,” was already released in November 2024 and has since garnered significant attention.
Tautumeitas, known for their harmonious vocals and traditional Latvian influences, hope to impress the European audience with “Bur man laimi” at the Eurovision Song Contest, which this year takes place in Basel, Switzerland.
